Dear (each representative will get a separate, personalised email),

I am writing to you as Minister for Housing to tell you that I am deeply worried about the number of children who are homeless in Ireland. So, I was pleased to see that the Programme for Government included a commitment to introduce a new Child and Family Homeless Action Plan. I want to let you know about my frustration and anger that almost 2 years later you still have not published the plan.

Since the Government commitment was first published in January 2025, child homelessness has increased by 1,227, a rise of 27% by August 2026.

Homelessness causes deep and lasting harm to children and their families. Publishing an Action Plan will be just the start of solving this problem, so the delay in publishing the plan is just making things harder for these children. Earlier this year you decided to delay publishing the plan while you agreed a budget with your Government colleagues - but weeks after the budget there is still no plan and no action.

So please move ahead and publish the plan without further delay.

Yours sincerely
